Portrait photography is that which captures the expression, personality, and mood of a person.  This type of photography often focuses on the subjects face but can also include the entire body.  There are many different styles of portrait photography including traditional or classic portraits and include things such as headshots, glamour photography were the emphasis is on a romantic appeal, and conceptual and abstract photography that’s created for the purpose of creating art.

Reportage photography is an approach whereby the photographer uses pictures to tell the story, they capture the events as they unfold.  A true reportage photographer doesn’t direct the “flow of things” but observes in a non-interrupted way to capture events in a more natural environment.  Its not about just pointing the camera and snapping pictures, its about well-timed placement, finding the proper conditions, finding that sense of perspective that gives a photograph that atmosphere and character.
